Dr. Kevin Tan is an endocrinologist in private practice for over 20 years. He now runs his own practice at Farrer Park and Mount Alvernia Medical Centres and a Diabetes in Pregnancy clinic at Thomson Medical Centre.
Dr. Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and is a fellow with both the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine in Singapore. He was trained locally at Singapore General, Alexandra and Tan Tock Seng Hospitals; as well as overseas at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, under world-renowned diabetes expert Professor George Alberti as well as thyroidologist, Pat-Kendall Taylor.
Dr. Tan is current Vice-President of Diabetes Singapore. He was immediate Past-President of Diabetes Singapore and has been on the management committee for over 15 years. He is also a member of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He was a member of the National Diabetes Strategy Advisory Committee and the Diabetes Prevention and Care Taskforce and now sits on advisory boards to various pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Tan was also an active Rotarian holding club office bearer positions from 2001 to 2006. In Diabetes Singapore, he organised World Diabetes Day Singapore events from 1998 until 2019. Dr. Tan was Co-Chairman of the organising committee for the 10th International Diabetes Federation-Western Pacific Region and 6th Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes Conference held in Singapore in November 2014.
As a keen diabetes educator and active on the lecture circuit to both professional and public audiences locally and in the region, Dr. Tan lectures extensively on diabetes, thyroid problems and other endocrine or hormone issues. He has given more than 350 lectures over the years.
Dr. Tan’s specialty interests are diabetes, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and calcium disorders, obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia.
