Dr Tan Siong San is a general surgeon practising in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He has a subspecialty interest in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.

On top of general surgical and endoscopic procedures, Dr Tan has also performed a wide range of procedures for the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. This includes, laparoscopic liver and pancreas resection, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, stomach, small bowel and colon resections, laparoscopic appendicectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy, colonoscopy, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999 and received his training in general surgery and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery in Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital.

Dr Tan was awarded SingHealth’s Health Manpower Development Plan Award in 2010 and spent one year as a clinical and research fellow in HPB surgery and liver transplantation at Chang Sung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan.

He was appointed the director of HPB service in Changi General Hospital, a position he held for 9 years, where he helped develop the HPB service and expanded its capability to include minimally invasive HPB surgery. He was conferred the title of adjunct assistant professor by Duke-NUS Medical School in 2019.
